Getting an Email Account
Start by going to the Yahoo Mail Web Site:
Here's the Opening Screen:
Click on the Sign me up! link. You'll get a long form to
fill in. Here's just the top portion.
Choose an original email name combination in order to avoid duplication. Many people combine their first and last names together in different ways. Make your password more than 6 characters. It's often good to combine letters and numbers. If you make it fun you'll remember it easier. It's a good idea to NOT use your children or pets names. At the same time don't worry about it too much either as you can change your password at any time later on.
Further down on the form there are several check boxes. These will be used to potentially
send you advertising email, often called SPAM. To avoid receiving this email form
of junk mail be absolutely sure to uncheck
"People Search Email Listing" and
"Contact me from time to time about specials and new products"
There is a section of check boxes lower down on the form. Do NOT check off any of the
"Tell Us About Your Interests" boxes
When you finish filling in the form and click on Submit This Form, you'll receive the Welcome Logged in Page:
This is a very full page of stuff. Ignore the vast amount of it that you may consider for exploration later. The important items are the Table of Contents Menu on the left hand side and the Inbox link near the top and just to the right of the TOC. These are the links that make your email account work.
