Are powerful tools, particularly in chat, to
help librarians handle the repetitive and time consuming parts of virtual reference.
Scripts are the best tools for poor typists and reluctant chatters. To use a script
the librarian chooses one from either the My Scripts or Institution Scripts drop
down. Then click the "Add" button to place it into the message box. Multiple
scripts can be used at once and mixed with text entries.
Each librarian log on gets up to 20 personal scripts. Each Administrator gets to
create up to 20 universal institution scripts for all the librarians to use. To create
their own scripts librarians click on My Scripts on the Ask page.
They enter a script name and the text. Click Add to create.
Created scripts can be edited and deleted at any time.
Librarians sharing a log on should make sure they consult with the other librarians
about their scripts.
