Now to the librarian side of QP. Start with
email services. The librarian logs onto the QP service and they click on one of the
"Ask" links to get to the listing of Active Questions. They click on the
question to work on it.
The question now becomes one of "My Questions". The librarian has a wide
range of options. If they want to keep this question for themselves, but answer it
later they can "Claim" the question. They can return to the Active List
to choose a different question. When ready to answer the question they click on "Respond".
In replying to the question the librarian can use personal or institution scripts
to save typing. They can add active web links using the http:// format. They can
add documents and other files as attachments to the email answer. They can ask the
patron for a clarification. Finally they can save a draft of an answer in progress
or send the Response.
If the question has been answered the librarian should "Close" the question
in order to keep the Active List clean and up to date.
Once the library has completed their profile and had it accepted by the local AskWisconsin
group and the Global Network, there will be additional option buttons to route the
question to other libraries.
