Profiles

The most important aspect to doing your library Profile is it does NOT have to be completely done at one sitting. The ideal approach is to nibble away at completing the profile over time, based on usage. Let experience help you modify test and refine your profile. Our emphasis will be on just getting started.

Documentation for completing your Profile can be found at.

Begin by chosing Profile.

The Institution Services page is the entry to all the information about your library, including contacts, hours, dates, locations and languages. Each of the sections is straightforward and self explanatory. Be absolutely certain to click on Save after editing. Remember Help is always just a click in the upper right corner away.

Note the Activation Status for both the QP Global Network and for AskWisconsin. When your library is ready, click the submit button to make your library active within each group. You can activate the AskWisconsin group to start and then activate QP Global later.

The Collection Strengths tab allows you to indicate your library strengths in languages, subjects, formats and geography. Once again take your time, be prepared to go back multiple times. You don't have to fill in any of this to make QuestionPoint available to your patrons. You do however need to have a basic Profile done in order to play with the QP Global Network.

A note about Geographic areas. They are sorted on the LC geographic divisions. However there are sub-categories within areas so you can specify North America then United States and then Wisconsin.
