Getting to Know the Internet
Pauline Haass Public Library

Welcome

This site is the companion to the Pauline Haass Public Library Getting to Know the Internet workshops. The workshops are free and open to all residents of Waukesha County. They are funded by the library's foundation, Citizens for the Pauline Haass Library.

Mark Beatty and Tom Zillner from Wisconsin InterLibrary Services (WILS) will be presenting the workshops. WILS is a consortia of libraries in Wisconsin established to help libraries share resources to better serve their patrons.

Schedule

Here's the latest schedule for the Getting to Know the Internet workshops. Please be sure to check with the library about availability of space for the hands on workshops.

Workshop Contents

We've divided the workshop into seven subject areas. Each area is short and easily learned. When all seven are combined you're on your way to Getting to Know the Internet. We start with a glossary so we're all speaking the same language and then explore practical approaches to the Internet. Click on the links to see the lesson for each one:

  1. Glossary
  2. Graphic User Interface
  3. Addresses
  4. Navigating
  5. Search Engines
  6. Starting at Home
  7. Connecting Yourself
