Searching
There are three ways to search. Two are useful and the third should be ignored.
Keyword Search
The Keyword search is immediately available at all times from the header bar. Type in your search words and click on "go". Keyword search uses an automatic boolean "AND", plus it automatically truncates all the terms entered.
Advanced Search
The Advanced Search is availabe from the home page. It is full featured but also easy to use. Full Text searches in netLibrary actually search the full text of all, or specified, ebooks in a library collection. The publisher and date searches can also be very helpful. Advanced Search supports all the usual boolean operators. AND is the default. You use quotes " " for specific phrase searching. You use * for truncating.
If you are logged in you can go to Search Perferences to set additional parameters.
Command Search
The Command Search requires your knowing the specific commands and formats to create powerful searches. Librarians used to using Dialog, or Nexis/Lexis in the command mode might find this useful. Otherwise avoid it, particularly with patrons. You get to a Command Search from the Search Tools tab in the header bar.
Here's the user friendly display.
