Arrowhead Library System

Getting to Know the Internet

Welcome

This site is the companion to the Arrowhead Library System's Getting to Know the Internet workshops. The workshops are free for the patrons of public libraries in Rock County, WI. They are funded through a TEACH Wisconsin grant awarded to the Arrowhead Library System.

Mark Beatty from Wisconsin Library Services (WiLS) and the staff of the Arrowhead Library System developed the workshops and these companion web pages for the benefit of Rock County Library Patrons. WiLS is a consortium of libraries in Wisconsin established to help libraries share resources to better serve their patrons.

Schedule

Please be sure to check with individual libraries throughout Rock County for dates and availability of space for any Internet workshops.

Workshop Contents

We've divided the workshop into six subject areas. Each area is short and easily learned. When they are all combined you're on your way to Getting to Know the Internet. We start with a glossary so we're all speaking the same language and then explore practical approaches to the Internet. Click on the links to see the lesson for each subject area:

  1. Glossary
  2. Using the Mouse
  3. Addresses
  4. Navigating
  5. Search Engines
  6. Starting at Home
